Van Bo Le Metnzel Has Created The World's Smallest Dwelling. The One Square Metre House...

Berlin based visionary and designer with a sense of humour Van Bo Le Metnzel has created 'The World's Smallest House'. It's only one square metre or around eleven square feet.
It will remain 'The World's Smallest House' until someone searching for fame and fortune, designs and builds a smaller one.
Probably next week.
And no it doesn't have a spare bedroom, it is the spare bedroom as well as the master bedroom.
And no it doesn't have any facilities.
Bo says I wanted to have my very own space, my own square metre. So only I can decide where I can place the window, the door, so I can enjoy whatever view I choose, what colour it is and what neighbours I might have.
I'm with you Bo.
As you can see the little space is affordable,
you can make it yourself, it's lightweight and portable. Ideal for artists, itinerants, musicians with small instruments, no, not organists with big organs, adventurers, rebels, occupy artists and the homeless.
And if you're visiting Berlin, you can rent it for one Euro a night.
Without room service...

  1. It reminds me of the little spaces someone is making for the homeless in the USA that was on your blog a while back!

  2. Just a leetle too small for me, even for a micro shelter. I think the ideal in ultra-small is the bike-drawn little red gypsy wagon you posted a while back; it's gotta be big enough to lie down in.

BTW, I've emailed Mr. Kloehn offering my volunteer services; still waiting to hear back. Maybe I'll wind up building micro-shelters too.

  5. It's taller than my tent, but my tent has more privacy.
