Nearly 200 Of The World's Billionaires Have Pledged To Give Away Half Their Fortunes...

Five years ago, two of the richest people on the planet, Bill Gates and Warren Buffett created The Giving Pledge.
Now, nearly two hundred other immensely rich men and women have pledged to give half their vast fortunes to charities.
Becoming a signatory has brought those who've joined this exclusive club glowing press coverage, more fame and probably even more to their already bulging bank accounts.
Signing the pledge however hasn't and doesn't make them legally liable to give away a brass razzoo and neither Bill Gates or Warren Buffett ask the pledge takers to prove a thing.
But the idea is a noble one and hopefully the many who've signed will follow the fine examples of  Mr Buffett and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation who give so many of their squillions.
And try to make this world a better place...

  1. Once I amass a multi-million dollar fortune, I too, will give some of it away. But at my age in the 70's and with bone marrow cancer, I doubt if I will live long enough to ever make anywhere near a million. Anyway, I quit working back a couple of year ago.

  2. Wow!!!!! What a magnificent example to the other millionaires of the World.If everybody who has say 10 million pledged to sponsor a villiage or township in third World countries the whole planet would be so much more comfortable. I sponsored one 10 child family in Africa till the Wars stopped the Bank drafts. My small donation of just $40.00 a month meant that one girl didn't die when she neede an operation. 2 of the boys could go to university, and the whole family could afford an education, which is the best gift anybody could give. We all only need ENOUGH. The extra can always be given to needy people, and they exist close by as well as in other parts of the World.....Jennybee

    1. You did a wonderful thing. I am very leery of organizations claiming to help people as we usually find out they have stolen the money given. You are correct that we only need enough.

  3. 2And He saw a poor widow putting in two small copper coins.
    3And He said, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them;
    4for they all out of their surplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on.”

  4. Well I suppose it's better than nothing, a nice PR gesture; but basically most if not all of these guys get fantastically rich in large part by sucking the life blood out of entire nations, so I'm not all that impressed. It's like taking your life savings away in order to give you third-rate dental care for which you're expected to grovel in gratitude.
