The Dalai Lama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity answered 'Man.
Because man sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices his money to recuperate his health.
And then he's so anxious about his future
he doesn't enjoy the present.
The result being that he doesn't live in the present or the future.
He lives as if he's never going to die and then does die having never really lived'...

He is so right. Nobody could have said it better.
ReplyDeleteActually someone did - Jim Brown. http://www.wordsofjoy.com/James_Brown_BIO.htm
DeleteThanks for that Graham. Jim Brown certainly did say it well in his 'Interview With God'...
DeletePerhaps! These words have stayed with me for years. They are still resounding causing me to reflect often.
DeleteIn april 2011 Dalai Lama visited Denmark and I had the possibility to join his lecture. This humouros, gentle and wise man filled the room with his presence. What a great day. He's really a spiritual superstar.
ReplyDeleteI had the pleasure and the privilege of being in close proximity to the man and watching, listening to him in the late 1990's here in New Zealand.
DeleteAn unforgettable experience...
How lovely! I'd love to meet him someday.
DeletePeace Love
