Where A Few Of The Rich Might Survive The Apocalypse...

When the end of the world happens one day soon,  there'll be a few paranoid but happy doomsday preppers who've paid a few million to Larry Halls for his retirement fund who'll be able to say to anyone who's still alive, we told you so.
Anyway, Larry has purchased some Missile Barns in  Kansas and is currently turning them into luxury doomsday shelters
and survival condos.
He'd better hurry and get them finished.
From what I hear the end is nigh.
Could be Tuesday...

It's Not The End Of The World But It's Close...

It's not the end of the world but it's pretty serious.
Lives may not be lost and there won't be millions made homeless but The Picasa/Google BlogThis Button is not working and there's a lot of frustrated bloggers out there including me who are unable to upload photo images.
Hopefully Google will get their act together and fix the problem as soon as possible.
Or even sooner..

The Sun Goes Down On The Year That Was...

2012 was a year when, according to some,
the world was going to end. And for some, it did.
Some of us consider any day spent above ground and breathing a good one.
Some days are better than others but
all of them are damned good as far as I'm concerned and I'm thankful for all of them.
To all of you who've been following
The Flying Tortoise, thankyou for being aboard.
It's been a delight and a pleasure to post material that I've hoped would entertain, inform, amuse and inspire over the past year...

Yesterday's Eclipse Of The Sun Was Very Very Weird...

Suddenly I noticed it was very cold.
Suddenly I noticed it was very dark.
Suddenly I wondered what the hell was going on. Was there something wrong with me?
Was I having an out of body experience?
Was this the end of the world or just mine?
I looked up at my E-Meter which tells me all I need to know and more about my Solar System.
It said 0.7 amps were hitting my panels.
Minutes before it had been 18 point something.
And then I realised.
Today is Wednesday and I'm in Northland and the sun was to be 90 percent eclipsed by the moon. It would be more noticeable here.
If I'd been on Australias' Great Barrier Reef or in their city of Cairns, I could have shared the total eclipse experience with sixty thousand scientists and astromoners from all over the world.
But where I was was weird enough...
