Many of you will already know
and follow one of the world's most gorgeous blogs, The Hermitage.
The author, Rima Staines is an extraordinary artist, a writer with the most wonderful way with words, a musician and a beautiful woman.
She's been back in Aotearoa New Zealand for a few weeks revisiting the land of her mother and her mother's mother with her lovely man and partner Tom, a fellow dreamer, storyteller, poet, musician and acupuncturist.
Rima and I've been following each other's blogs for sometime and we both featured in Lloyd Kahn's bestselling Tiny Homes book.
It's not often that two bloggers from opposite sides of the world meet up and it was more than a total delight to enjoy some quality time together at Te Awanga in The Hawkes Bay. Sharing the important things in life before Rima and Tom flew out to Fiji prior to heading home to Devon and their latest project on wheels. Converting their Army issue RL Bedford into an enchanting home that moves.
Wheels have turned in Rima's life since she can remember. As she says, 'the characters in my paintings are wheeled, their houses are wheeled, my stories are wheeled.
Handcarts and wagons and caravans have always caught my eyes in that beautiful way a well loved colour or a certain kind of face stands out in a crowd.
Wheels call to me even louder if they have a door, a window or a chimney atop them.
Something about the combination of vehicle and house sets my blood thrilling.
Traveling, I have gradually realised over the years, and more specifically, living in a house that moves, is a fundamental part
of the person I am.
It's what makes my heart sing the highest and my feet feel the rightest'.
Rima and Tom. I wish you the bestest...

A Beautiful Bedford Housetruck Named Agnes...

on The Tiny Life recently is very similar to the wonderful Rima Staine's gorgeous Horsebox housetruck that appears in Lloyd Kahn's fabulous Tiny Homes book.
Agnes, located somewhere in Cornwall has a marvelous drop down side door that can be used as a deck off the living area as well as some other delightfully designed features.
So why are you still living in a house...

The Horsebox House...

We've never met
but I know these things to be true.
You've only to look at her blog,
The Hermitage, or read what she says about hers and her partners life in their housetruck to know I'm right.
There's a story of The Housebox House in
Lloyd Kahn's Tiny Home book and Rima's words have kept delighting me since the book was published many weeks ago.
I expect they might delight and inspire you too.
Here's some of them...
"The journey was both wonderful and hard.
They learned that life on the move was more raw and more real. They got to see people's prejudices up close.
Gathering the necessities of life such as water and firewood took up much of their days...
It was a tiny house indeed. The outdoors was also part of their home, which meant that their space shrank when it rained...
Bathing was done in front of the fire in a small tin bath they kept on a hook on the wall...
The wind rocked their house like they were at sea and the rain drummed up a delightful percussion on the roof...
Life on the move also gave them a sense of living in full colour. All their days were as vivid as the treasured memory of a favourite holiday. They learned to live a life without the grays, without the wishing for a 'one day' or an 'if only' sort of life.
They lived it in the minute and it was bright..."
Rima's full tale of life on the road is here...
