Tiny Houses To Make You Swoon...

Steven over at Tiny House Listings
has started a new site.
It's called Tiny House Swoon.
Have a look here.
It's similar to one of my favourites, Cabin Porn, but there's always room in one's life for more photos of beautiful little living spaces.
Here's a few images from this new site.
Some of them might make you,
well, swoon...

Big Brother Targets UK Motorists...

Ostensibly to stop motorists driving off without paying for petrol, the CCTV cameras installed at Petrol Stations across the United Kingdom will now, under new government legislation,
trigger automatic checking of the vehicle's insurance status.
No insurance. No Petrol.
Under the excuse that there are 1.4 million uninsured vehicles on UK roads, this new information will be added to the government's data base allowing another piece of invasive and punitive legislation to further erode the privacy of the individual.
What next you may well ask.
They already track what you do, who with, when and where, using your mobile phone, eftpos
and credit cards.
And imagine when the computer system malfunctions as it surely will, and you and your insured vehicle are denied petrol.
Oh for the simple days of the horse and cart. There was no insurance,
no petrol, but still a lot of shit to deal with...

Simple Camping Made Simpler...

Old style camping at Uretiti has been great fun over many years for David and Ivy.
They'd bring their cute little caravan or their tent, a simple gas ring for cooking up freshly caught fish, some toast or a cup of tea .
They'd eat their cheese, their sandwiches, their watermelon and they'd go to bed happy.
Now, Field Candy are making a Yummy range of tents that look like food.
The plan is to go camping and if you get hungry and you've forgotten your provisions, simply eat your tent then go and sleep with someone else in their tent.
Take a hike over here and here to have a look at others on the menu...

It's Called Yarn Bombing...

It's called Yarn Bombing.
And also known as Guerilla Knitting, Urban Knitting and Graffiti Knitting
It's the practice of knitting psychedelic sweaters and scarves for inanimate objects.
It appears to have started in the Netherlands sometime in 2004.
Much more acceptable than painted graffiti,
it looks like it's here to stay..
Magda Sayag from Houston is known as the Mother of Yarn Bombing and Joan Matvichuk of Alberta started International Yarn Bombing Day which was first observed on June 11, 2011.
It's such fun and hopefully, a yarn that'll be spun for a while...

Knitting For Africa And The Fish'n Chip Babies...

Campervan tourists Alessandra and Findlay
from the UK are, strange as it may seem, sitting in the sun here at Uretiti, knitting baby clothes for a wonderful cause.
This isn't new but I hadn't heard of it before now.
The situation is so incredibly sad.
Babies born with Aids in Africa and with no hope of survival are sent home to die, not clothed but wrapped in newspaper.
They're known as the Fish'n Chip Babies.
You can read two stories about it here and here. Both include knitting patterns in case you feel compelled to get your needles out right away.
Or you can google fish'n chip babies...

For A Happier World...

I wouldn't imagine for a moment that readers of this blog would carry emotional baggage, but in case any of you know someone who does, instead of dumping it on you, they're invited to dump it below and then get on with life...

Tiny Rustic Dwellings...

The ravages of time combined with studied neglect has added character and charm to these tiny rustic living spaces.
Places to dwell in forever or a short while.
Just looking at them is food for the soul.
You can check out the locations and details of these and more at Cabin Porn...
