The owner of this house, like so many who live in the suburbs, fed up with his home being stuck on a plot of land with neighbours on all sides, decided to get away from it all.
And take his house with him.
So he bought a very large removal truck and remembering the old saying, never leave home before you've seen the country, went off to do just that.
He knows a thing or two about location location location...

There seems to be a never ending supply of vehicles that've been creatively modified to meet the demands of adventure loving, off road freedom camping enthusiasts.

This is the view I'm lucky to wake up to.
This is where, just a few minutes ago,
I had breakfast sitting in the sun.
At the risk of repeating myself,
this is the beautiful Tokerau Beach
at Doubtless Bay in New Zealand's Far North.
This is where I've been for a little while and where I'll be a little longer.
All's well with this little bit of the world.
No fiscal cliffs, just a few gentle sand dunes...

My friend Harvey who's currently touring New Zealand's wonderful South Island with its magnificent scenery, emailed me to say he's thinking of trading in his late model Nissan motorhome for this beautiful old 1937 Bedford Housebus.
Naturally I gave him my unbiased, candid opinion and told him he was mad if he didn't.
You'd agree with me I'm sure.
What an opportunity I said. A once in a lifetime one I told him. Where would you find another old girl like that I continued, this ladys been around and can still turn heads.
I've been waiting to hear from him.
He usually takes my advice.

Cute And Colourful Caravans...

They're always such a delight to see.
At the beach or a camping area, these little older style caravans or travel trailers that so often
conjure up such delicious romantic notions.
Teasing and tempting you, whispering how easy it would be just to hitch a little wagon to a star or the family car and just take off for a week,
a month or forever.
They've all been labour's of much love by the present or previous owners and the pride unashamedly shows.
And the beckoning chairs and tables say welcome, sit, let's talk a while,
of cabbages and kings...

Jypsy Jude. Queen Of New Zealand's Housetruckers...

Jypsy Jude is Queen of New Zealand's Housetruckers.
She has in her fifty years on the road, in one of over thirty housebuses and housetrucks she's owned, mostly Bedfords, covered many thousands of miles, seen and been seen in most parts of the country and brought much pleasure to all she's met.
These days she can sometimes be found with one of two Gypsy Fairs that travel the country.
She paints her very distinctive pictures, does Tarot readings and delights all with her style and presence.
I caught up with her a couple of weeks ago..
As always, she made my day.

The House That Sits On The Back Of A Truck...

As Steven over at Tiny House Listings often does, he's currently featuring another very interesting New Zealand Housetruck.
This one belongs to Nelson based Alex and Hannah who in 2010, set out to build themselves a home using a 1985 Hino truck as the foundation.
