Some people get carried away with their own perceived importance.
Without money these same people would be impotent.
A governing body called LOCOG has stated that 'Strict rules mean that only official sponsors are allowed to display images of the rings and to use the words London Olympics 2012.'
People though are thankfully creative and resourceful. Tell them they can't do something and they will because where there's a will there's a way!
The founder of the modern Olympics, Baron Pierre de Coubertin explained the Olympic ring design which he created in 1913. 'The rings represent the Unions of five continents and the meeting of athletes from around the world at the Olympic Games. The colours were chosen because at least one of these colours is found within the flag of every nation'.
I'm sure the good Baron did not envisage the likelyhood, one hundred years later, of some greedy selfish, sponsors denying people the right to display this universal symbol.
The original Olympic flag was made at the Bon MarchA store in Paris and first flew over an Olympic stadium at the 1920 Antwerp Games.
This flag carries the Olympic motto in Latin. Citius, Altius, Fortius, which means Faster, Higher, Stronger.
Greed though is unfortunately the way of our world and greed is the what will ultimately destroy our world...
