For Those Who Loved The Typewriters Of The Past But Embrace The Hi-Tech Now...

For those who loved the wonderful old typewriters of the past and were reluctant to let them go, you need to know that USB Typewriters are rescuing antique typewriters and giving them a new lease of life in the now of the digital age. They're very cleverly transforming Underwoods and other brands into computer keyboards
and tablet docks.

  2. Oh! It's brilliant in a very crazy way. I could actually feel my computer keys turn back into typewriter keys for a moment there.

  5. Terrible idea! The great virtue of a mechanical typewriter is that it frees you from dependency on power sources. This is like running your sailboat on a 150 horsepower Diesel engine, treating rig and sails as nothing more than cute quaint appurtenances.

  6. Having learned to type on machines very like those depicted, I'm afraid I'd have no desire to "go retro" using one to interface with my computer.

However - There is another option. Jake VanSlatt has been "Steampunking" a variety of modern devices to nostalgic appearances for many years. Have a look at some of the Steampunk Keyboards on his blog site, some by him, and others by contributors.

Ah, and Jake is a fellow bus conversion builder. It's very worth checking out some of the photos of his Victorian RV.
