In Case You Didn't Know...

In case you didn't know.
Apparently some people think that cat's milk comes from cats.
But most people believe that cat's milk comes from cows...

Warren Potts Explores The Road Less Travelled With His Horse, His Dog And His Very Beautiful Tiny Home On Wheels...

Warren Potts is a man who walks to the beat of a different drum. A quiet gentle soul, he explores the road less travelled with his horse, his Husky dog called Diesel and his tiny house on wheels.
Warren is an artist, a craftsman, a sculptor, a horse whisperer, thinker, philosopher and most importantly, a free spirit.
His horse Samen Nandor who travels in a horse float towed behind Warrens little truck, was named for the stud Samen and Nandor, the man who owned the local dairy.
Warren is also a perfectionist and his beautiful little home on wheels is testament to his skills.
You might be lucky enough to meet him on your road one day...

The Steely Cottage. It Has Everything That's Needed And Nothing That Isn't...

Everything that's needed and nothing that's not. That's the philosophical approach Ben Bartwell took when planning and building his tiny two hundred square foot house on a flatbed trailer.
There's more to know about The Steely Cottage here but it's a house designed and built for self sufficient living.
The little house is totally off grid and is complete with a composting toilet, a do-it-yourself pressurised water system and a vacuum tube solar water heater.
When the weather's cold there's a wood stove but evidently the house is naturally warm due to the passive solar build.
But the thing I like most is the recycled Corten sheets that've been used to clad the house and are already rusting to wonderful autumnal tones. They'll be pretty much maintenance free for ever.
And forever is quite a long time...

Being Physically Fit In Moscow Can Get Commuters Free Subway Travel...

If you're fit enough to do thirty squats in front of these special monitors set up at Moscow's Metro terminals, you can get yourself free travel on the subway.
It appears that Russia is keen on keeping at least some of its citizens alive and while they mightn't be as fit as the national team competing in the Sochi Winter Olympics at least they'll be in good shape.
While Moscow may miss out on some rail fares it may actually be saving the state funded health system a lot of money.
Looks like a great idea and a lot of fun. Perhaps other countries will come up with similar innovative ideas to encourage their citizens to stay healthy...

The Philippines And Typhoon Haiyan. How Tragic That People Who Already Had So Little Now Have Even Less...

Life can be so unfair.
The people of the Philippines already had so little and now the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan means they have even less.
As more and more natural disasters, storms of severe magnitude, disease and food shortages create a living hell on earth for so many, the terrible tolls seem to be felt mainly by those who are already just coping to survive.
Strangely it's very rarely the wealthy suffer in these situations.
If poverty was wealth the poor would be rich beyond their wildest dreams...

John's Tiny House Is In A Bush. On A Beach Somewhere...

John is another of life's colourful characters
I've been lucky to meet up with recently.
He's literally been going bush for a long long time, living a life most of us just couldn't imagine.
I won't let on where his home is but the bush
you see here is it.
Very few know his little house exists and certainly the local authorities don't.
Not surprisingly he's created a livable interior from discarded bits and pieces he's found at the local dump.
John's a longtime fisherman, itinerant, raconteur and wonderfully amusing character.
Another man happy having plenty of nothing.
It's been a delight to have been in his company...
