 Scientists from New Zealand's Department of Horizontal Flying Insects say that the La Nina weather pattern with its sub-tropical conditions have caused a rash of these monster yellow sandflies to frequent the country's East Coast beaches this summer.

Lots of sandflies around but I managed to avoid this one. Looks like fun though.
