The thirty two foot, William Atkin designed double-ender, Sofia at anchor in the peaceful waters of Neafu in the Vavau group of Tongan islands in 1993.
What was to happen the following year would be the subject of many books and an award winning documentary called 'Rescue in The Pacific'. It's available on DVD. This weekend is the 16th anniversary of those events.
Many thoughts are going through my mind as I sit here now on this Sunday morning writing these words as I remember what I was doing exactly now, all those years ago...
