China's Mount Haushan Is One Of The Most Terrifying And Dangerous Places In The World To Go Hiking...

China's Mount Husashan is one of the most terrifying and dangerous hikes in the world.
I get vertigo just looking at the photos so it was with much trepidation that I started this post.
I stayed sitting down with both feet firmly planted on the floor. Reading about the hiking trails that involve steep wooden staircases, vertical ascents and a walkway made out of a series of wooden planks bolted onto the mountainside scares the hell out of me.
It is not somewhere I'll be anytime soon
but if you're thinking of going there.
send me a postcard...

  1. When I was younger, I loved to climb cliffs and walk ledges. I even walked on a pipeline over a gorge. Now, sitting on the couch is too high for me. . .

  2. Nope. Nope. Nope. I'm too fat and heavy for those old boards.

  3. If one lived at the top of that trail, visits from the tax man might be relatively infrequent.

  4. What's up with all the padlocks on that fat chain? I've heard that a new craze of putting padlocks on bridges as an act of devotion is akin to carving your sweetie's initials on a tree, but carrying locks up a mountain side to be clasped to a chain in the middle of nowhere? Kooky.

  5. Mr Kooky. The padlocks have me puzzled too. Imagine locking yourself to the chain for some reason that has me baffled and then realising you've left the key at home. Then who's a Mr Smarty Pants...

  6. May be those padlocks were used on the poor souls in China.Vertigo and altitude are zapped by Gingko.

  8. My thesis was on people with a death wish: Too bad I didn't have these photos; I probably could have just submitted the photos & skipped the research & tedious writing!
