Wahidullah Sabawon Designs And Builds Afghanistan's First Ever Solar Powered Car...

This modest little solar powered vehicle says it's designer and builder, engineer Wahidullah Sabawon, on test driving Afghanistan's first ever solar powered car, could enhance the lives of so many ordinary Afghanis. And it's not as if we don't have a lot of sun in this country.
We are so used to hearing and seeing nothing but conflict and heartbreak from this troubled and beautiful part of the world.
Congratulations Mr Sabawon on daring to dream
and making it happen...

Walter James Palmer. Minnesota Dentist, Family Man, Vile Human Being And Killer Of Cecil, Zimbabwes Most Famous Lion...

Minnesota dentist, family man, killer and vile human being Walter James Palmer really likes his patients to have nice white teeth.
He also really likes to shoot big game animals.
With his high powered bow and arrow.
Walter James Palmer can be seen
in numerous photos with his 'trophies'
that he's shot around the world.
He's just killed Zimbabwe's most famous and much loved lion Cecil, by luring the magnificent beast out of the protected national park into the open where he could 'legally' shoot it.
And he did. There's an update here.
If it was legal Walter James Palmer, Minnesota dentist, family man and vile human being,
somebody might really like to shoot you...

Get Your Septum Pierced. Everybody's Doing It...

Cows started the Bovine Chic culture eons ago. The Punks and the Goths have been indulging for ages but now it seems everybody's
getting their Septum pierced.
Madonna just had it done so it must be cool.
But I think the cow below looks the coolest...

Airlines Take Lessons From Sardine Companies On How To Pack Em In...

This sardine seating configuration could be the new way you'll be flying on short haul flights.
At least you'll be able to flap your elbows a bit more than you can now.
Zodiac Seats has recently applied for a patent for it's Economy Class Hexagon Design which will give people more shoulder room, leg room and arm room. And more bums on seats.
But 'Class' in Economy?
I don't think so...

Abraham Lincoln's Most Famous Quote...

Perhaps Abraham Lincoln's most famous quote.
The trouble with quotes on the internet is that you can never know if they are genuine...

Teardrop Campers are known to be light, aerodynamic and very easy to tow with a small car but traditionally don't have a lot of space.
But they can have a lot of space. And the Australian designed and made not so tiny retro Gidget teardrop camper with it's easy to use pullout, very cleverly, almost doubles in size.
See mate, I can say some good things
about Australia...

Crazy Paving. Or A Very Clever Roading Idea...

Crazy Paving? I don't think so.
The Dutch city of Rotterdam could be the first city in the world to have its streets paved with recycled plastic bottles.
A surface some claim to be greener, quicker to lay and more reliable than asphalt.
Looks like a great idea to me...

The Kantoor Karavaan. A Wonderful Workspace Well Away From The Office...

The Dutch designers of the Kantoor Karavaan, translated, the office caravan, thought the workplace might be more productive if its location was more attractive.
So the idea of the Kantoor Karavaan was conceived. A great idea so people could rent one of these delightful mobile office spaces designed to suit their requirements and positioned in a conducive and pleasing environment.
All they need to do is bring their laptop
and if they can, get to work...

Italian photographer Turi Calafatos's image captured on his mobile phone of a couple relaxing and enjoying their own space and time on a beach in Sicily in 2014 has won the best mobile phone photo award in the 2015 Sony World Photography Awards.
I'm sure the featured sleeping couple, not realising their privacy was being invaded, will be delighted to know that...

Russians Need Reminding That Taking Selfies While Standing In Front Of A Speeding Train Is Dangerous...

There's been enough deaths and injuries recently to compel the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs to launch a new public safety campaign called Safe Selfies.
It warns their citizens to the dangers of taking selfies while standing in front of speeding trains, in the middle of a motorway, on top of a high building or, can you believe it, playing Russian Roulette with a loaded pistol...

A Greek Tragedy...

Never mind the rights and wrongs.
An ancient and proud country reduced to such poverty and humiliation is a great tragedy...

The Wohnwagon. A Very Different Tiny Living Space On Wheels...

The Austrian designed and manufactured Wohnwagon meaning Living Wagon, is a very attractive larch clad mobile home that can be towed almost anywhere.
There's more about this delightful looking home on wheels here.
The roof is evidently green, the insulation is sheep wool, the toilet composting and most materials used have been recycled.
It has solar power and an elaborate solar water heater with what looks like all the bells and whistles you can imagine, very Heath Robinson, to keep the interior warm.
Maybe it's really for making alcohol. But still...

This Young Homeless Manila Boy Has Been Doing His School Homework By The Light Of A McDonalds Restaurant...

Young Daniel Cabrera knows hardship very well.
It's been a constant part of his short life so far.
His home was burned down and his father died. The homeless boy is seen most days begging on the streets of Manila with his mother.
But the young, intelligent and happy child
who's become an inspiration to so many after this image was aired on social media,
wants an education.
There are millions of children existing in poverty.
They will not all be seen on social media but hopefully some of them will be able to realise their dreams for a better future.
Despite stronger economic growth in recent years, approximately a quarter of the Philippines population of one hundred million live on less than one dollar a day.
Now, cash, clothes, a school scholarship and even a reading lamp have been offered to the nine year old Daniel who's become a symbol for the many children in similar neighborhoods.
And who dream of getting an education and living better lives...

Gavin Munro Grows Furniture...

Gavin Munro is an innovative designer who grows trees into creative pieces of furniture.
Living and working on his farm north of Derby
in England, he grows willow, oak, ash and sycamore trees framed over forms so the saplings grow into chairs, light fittings, mirror frames and tables. There's more here.
Maybe money does grow on trees...
