Handmade Matt And His Wonderful, Easy To Construct Demountable Truck Camper...

Handmade Matt from Surrey England
is one very clever fellow, he's a craftsman, loves working with wood and he's a tiny home enthusiast.
He's recently built this traditional gypsy styled camper that would sit atop any conventional small truck. The full story is here and it's worth having a look at.
I'm considering downsizing from The Flying Tortoise, it just might be for sale soon and this is the concept I'm favouring...

  1. I hope the Flying Tortoise makes a visit down south before you trade in for your perpeptual summer digs.

  2. Do I read right? Downsizing from the Tortoise? Well smaller is cheaper and has many other advantages. Have a happy new year Keith.

    1. Although i' d be happy with the size of the home, I would prefer to have access to the drivers seat without having to come out. I think it'd a lot safer that way.

  3. It will have about the same amount of room as my veggie van, but a bit better laid out. Nice.

I've seen some nice homemade ones like this on the road.

  4. Cute and cosy but also looks lovely and spacious for its size.

  5. Maybe I should build one of those for my Tundra. And get rid of the 35' Bluebird Wanderlodge that's not coming along as fast as I hoped it would.

I really like the warmth of the wood finish. It's beautiful.

    1. The structure and contents will probably be able to weigh about a ton...

  7. Does it have a bathroom? Shower? Without at least a bathroom, you couldn't live in it...

    1. Byron, it doesn't need to have a 'room' as such. TFT doesn't have a 'bathroom' and a shower and a toilet are simple matters to have without specially designed and constructed spaces. A little bit of lateral thinking is required, that's all...

    1. In TFT, the small portable toilet just slides in under the bed, it's on a base with castors, when I need it I just slide it out and then put it away again. I have two showers, one that I use virtually all the time is attached to the entrance door and unfolds for privacy. The shower is a 12v pump that sits in a container of hot water and you use a shower head. The other is a PVC bag about 900mm square x 1500mm high and it hangs from the ceiling. I take the shower in there, then take the bag, empty it outside and fold the whole thing up and put it away, it takes five minutes and it means that I don't have to live with a built in bathroom taking up a considerable amount of interior space... TFT's interior is open, simple, spacious and user friendly...
