It's not the most beautiful
little cabin in the wilderness I've ever seen,
but it certainly does have merit.
When the owner of this 350 sq foot
Olsen Kundig designed cabin's not using it he can simply shutter it up competely against the elements.
The cabin's raw and robust materials fit in with the surrounding wilderness even though, as the great Austrian architect Hundertwasser said, "There are no straight lines in Nature".
More designers might do well to remember that...

I used to live near an Bee Keeper in New Plymouth who labelled his Honey "NORIAN" for "no right angles in nature". His house was built with this in mind ie followed the curvature of the earth. Just goes to show nothing is new.
ReplyDeleteI love small living spaces, tucked away in nature. And the idea of a place you can shutter up when not around seems nice.
ReplyDeleteBut I really do hope there's no wind to speak of where this cabin is located. With that big a sail it needs a rudder!

I love that! I loved the outside and then Wow! I saw the interior and I wish I lived there. Again, it got pinned on Pinterest, shared on FB and Tweeted bringing everyone back here to you. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're right Zeke. When I first saw it I thought of the sliding door, if not the whole structure sailing off in a big wind, but I imagine the owners know the virtues of 'reefing early'...
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of living independently and this cabin fits perfectly for my taste. This is so cute and something I could call my own home. Good thing also if this is near to the lake or mountains.
