Yesterday I again met up with Brando,
this time at Matata, a little seaside village that sits between Tauranga and Whakatane on New Zealand's East Cape, an area known as the Eastern Bay of Plenty.
He's now been walking for one year and a hundred and ten days.
The WildBoy is very fit and strong as one would be after walking around and over some of the toughest terrain you can imagine, while carrying an enormous pack.
He's lightened it by 10kg and now I can lift it but it still weighs about 40kg, that's around 90lb.
Just to make me feel like an inadequate old man the young rascal got down and did a half a dozen or so press-ups while I strained to lift the camera to record the event.
Angi from Dyslexia Bay of Plenty came down to see him off and Bev was thrilled to be able to donate to Brando's charity, Ronald McDonald.
WildBoy has now raised over $16,000.
He's also talked at more than one hundred and twenty schools inspiring everyone he meets.
My young friend is going places, winning hearts and minds as he walks on to complete his epic journey sometime in August.
You can follow Brando's steps here.
It's very easy to be proud to know him.
I am and I'll be there at Cape Reinga to congratulate him as he makes his final steps...
