    Well public opinion is one of the world's superpowers...it's right up there with the USA and China. Especially now we have the internet.

    The statement on that sign is another way of saying that rulers rule by the consent of the governed, whether tacit or explicit: which in turn is another way of saying that every country gets the government it deserves.

    I think it's true that any positive developments are going to have to come from the bottom up (nothing to do with jockeys), because at this point in history those at the top are a collection of clueless clowns and bumbling baboons. That's how it is with late-phase civilizations.
