Could Love Replace Hate In Ferguson Missouri...

Could love replace hate on the streets
of Ferguson Missouri?
It's a big ask but twelve year old protester Devonte Hart with tears streaming down his face and wearing a 'Free Hugs' sign around his neck just could be the face of Ferguson's future.
Photographer Johnny Nguyen captured these poignant images of Devonte with Portland Police Sgt Bret Barnum.
There's more about their meeting here.
As Martin Luther King said. Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.
Just look at that young boy's face...

  1. I love this picture of the vulnerable lack boy giving a hug to the invincible Police officer.
The knowledge of the connection between the pain of suffered brutality and its cure,,,LOVE is written plain on Devonte's face.He and hs siblings have been saved from their ugly beginnings, by two compassionate women. His lined forehead on one so young speaks of his hard childhood, prior to his adoption. His passionate hug and the policemans hug shows that we are all seeking to give and receive unconditional love,
Devonte has it from his adoptive parents, Sarah and Jennifer Hart. He knows this love exists and wants to show it can be freely given, and if it was given with a whit of tolerance and understanding the world would be free of so much resentment and hate.
I am gratified to see that there are so many white people in the crowd scenes of the protests. There is definitely a "Coming together" right now and I like to see that.
    A great photo on a great blog.....Bee
PS: I would have liked to see Devonte's FREE HUGS sign, maybe souveniered by a media person?

  2. It's time to create a new paradigm, To let hatred, anger and violence behind, and to say hello to compassion, love and understanding be the future.
Devonte is an excellent representative for that way of thinking.
In a World where the News bombards us with horrific images every day, it gives a hope and confidence to read about the brave young boy on your blog today, Keith.
