World Famous Photographer Steve McCully Tells The Stories Behind His Beautiful And Powerful Images...

There's a new book out.
It contains the stories behind the images of  world acclaimed photographer Steve McCully. You're sure to recognise some of them. Like Sharbat Gula, the Afghan girl in the Nsir Bagh refuge camp in Peshawar Pakistan in 1984. A mother and child begging through a taxi window in Bombay in 1993. Bicycles hanging on the side of a train in West Bengal in 1983. Women shielding themselves from a dust storm in Rajasthan in 1983.
There's more here about one of the most important photographers of our time...

  1. Photographs are beautiful but sometimes they show an ugliness of life from a space that the photographer and the viewer can walk away from.
The saving grace is those living in that ugly space don't know any other life...and cope magnificently.

  2. Magnificent photos that one can feel and not just see. No wonder theses images are so memorable.

  3. Such powerful images, opening our eyes to a world most Westerners will never see - gaining us a little more understanding, hopefully.
