Every fifteen minutes a magnificent African elephant is killed by poachers for its ivory.
About thirty six thousand of these beautiful creatures were killed in Africa last year despite a ban on ivory.
Elephants have thrived for fifty million years in the forests and grasslands of Africa but says conservationist Dr Dame Daphene Sheldrick of The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, in as little as twelve years time, there may be no elephants left in Africa.
There's more about this terrible situation here.
Imagine, no elephants left in Africa because of man's greed.
Greed. It's destroying our world...

How tragic... I agree obsession with greed is an ugly thing.
ReplyDeleteSo sad but I don't see greed as the root cause. People can be greedy and not kill. Its basically a hard cold callous disregard for life. From these precious creatures to baby humans being butchered every 9 mins.....the destruction of whole beautiful forests to the desecration of our rivers and oceans...now radioactive to boot......can only imagine how the sea life is suffering. Somehow many hearts and minds are seared and unable to connect with true beauty and life.
