Is This What Happens Next America?

Is this the next step America?
Nguyen Ngoc Loan, South Vietnam's National police chief in 1968, executes a man thought to be a Viet Cong captain.
Associated Press photographer Eddie Adams took this horrific photo that shook the world.
Is some other photographer going to shoot a similar image somewhere in the US sometime soon?
Is some police chief in New York or Los Angeles going to shoot a young innocent protester for standing up or sitting down for what he or she believes in?
For believing in democracy?
It's not a very big step from pepper spray to a pistol.
I'm sorry for posting this horrific photo image.
It makes me sick in my heart and soul to see it and it always has.
But we need the shocking reminder that these things can happen even without a war.
I feel compelled to do something.
Presenting this is what I can do.
Doing nothing is not an option for me...

  1. From Pepper spray to a pistol might be a small step but a giant step backwards for mankind.
    I agree Keith, what next?

  2. "UC Davis chancellor apologizes for pepper-spray incident
As outrage mounts over campus police's use of the chemical against seated, nonviolent protesters, Linda Katehi tells more than 1,000 students and faculty members she feels 'horrible for what happened.' The school's police chief is placed on administrative leave."

Reporting from Davis, Calif., and Los Angeles—
As outrage mounted over police use of pepper spray on nonviolent student demonstrators at UC Davis, the campus' embattled chancellor apologized for the incident and placed the university's police chief on administrative leave.

During a tense speech Monday before more than 1,000 students and faculty members on the normally quiet Central Valley campus' main quad, Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi tried to quell criticism over the incident, as well as how university officials handled the aftermath.

Mor of this on the Los Angeles Times Local's website.

At least it seems to have stirred up a hornet's nest. Rightly too.

  4. I remember this photo well, every day in 1967 I came home from high school, my senior year and watched these horror stories unfold in B&W on the TV, as my friends were carted off to another ridiculous war.

Governments and banks run by bullies, bullies on the police force, bullies in corporations, lies in the media...now I know where my depression comes from...NO WHERE TO HIDE...sounds like another Ruby Ridge to me, the revolutions are coming in the USofA I fear!

They say that fence on the border is to keep the Mexicans out...I fear it's to keep us in??!

  5. I am an American, what you don't realize is that this is already happening in our country. The rich, the politicians, the large business owners have already killed the majority of us citizens. We are only walking dead, trying to find a way....

  7. On May 4, 1970, the Governor of Ohio sent the national Guard to put down a protest at Kent State University, they fired live rounds into the crowd, and 4 were killed and others wounded. I am afraid that something like that will happen again. The Wealth Disparity in the U.S. is terrible. College students graduate, with mountains of debt, but no jobs, and little hope. I thought we would learn from the Kent State Massacre, but I am afraid that we didn't.
