Guy Fawkes...
Guy Fawkes, also known as Guido Fawkes (1570-1606), was the man in charge of the barrels of gunpowder hidden in the cellars during the failed attempt to blow up the English House of Lords in 1605.
Personally I'm hard pressed to think of any political figure or any government in the world who I have the slightest modicum of respect for. They could all do with a charge under them.
So I applaud his intentions...

I'll second that!

ReplyDeleteIncidentally to Signore Fawkes there was an interesting piece on Irish Radio last night about the Guy Fawkes mask that, apparently, has been adopted by the various 'occupy' movements that are presently filling global newspaper column inches. It seems something of a paradox that this chosen emblem is the 'property' (They have the copyright of it!) of Time Warner and that the 'occupy' organization is totally dependent on the internet which is wholly owned and run by the adversaries of 'occupy'; governments and megalithic global businesses (Apple, Sony et al.)!
