I post these images with a very heavy heart.
But with no apology.
I am upset. I am sad. I am angry. I am crying.
And like you. I am not powerless.
Please join me and millions of others in demanding action from our governments to increase their paltry efforts and somehow bring an end to the unprecedented humanitarian crisis the world is experiencing.
The world refugee dilemma is not new and more than fifty million people are in a homeless situation right now. Right now.
They are looking for a place to shelter
and be safe but there doesn't seem to be
much room at the inn.
This beautiful little Syrian boy, Aylan Kurdi aged three, his brother Galip and their mother Rehan all drowned last Wednesday off the coast of Turkey's Bodrum Peninsula. Their father and widower Abdullah survived the tragedy but will he survive life. This family were seeking freedom. Something we all take for granted.
Please do something.
I see Sir Bob Geldof has offered to put up four families at his London home. There are many who could do something like that.
If you're crying at these images, If they shock you. If you're angry about what is happening, then that's good. It shows you're alive.
And if you're alive, you have choices.
Please make some...

Men Are Not Allowed In The Little Kenyan Village Of Umoja...
The little Kenyan village of Umoja is
a sanctuary for women and their children.
Men are not allowed to live there.
Originally it became a place of refuge for the fifteen survivors of a brutal rape by British soldiers back in 1990 and now is a happy community of forty seven women and around two hundred children.
There's more here about how the little
single sex village is thriving.
Perhaps there's a lesson there for the world...

German College Student Leone Muller Chooses To Live Life As A Train Nomad...
Presented suddenly with options she hadn't and wouldn't have considered without a dispute with her landlord causing her to move from her apartment, twenty three year old student Leone Muller realised she didn't want to live in a normal accommodation anyway.
She didn't want to live anywhere.
She wanted to be free
So she purchased a subscription which allows her to travel on any train in Germany with no other cost. And the price was much less than what she was paying in rent.
Now Leone is a 'train nomad', washing her hair in the train bathroom and doing her college work and a blog on her new life choice while traveling at a hundred and something miles an hour. Her life's needs like clothes, computer and bathroom essentials fit into a small backpack.
Apart from saving money on rent, she's realising that downsizing and living simply has wonderful advantages. She hopes that what she's doing will inspire others to question their habits and what they consider to be acceptable,
'normal' behaviour.
Why be normal she says. Be you...

On The Same Team...
These two avid baseball fans may cheer for different teams, she for the Giants and he for the Cardinals but Carol and Warren Reckmeyer have been on the same team since June 1952. And proud of it. It's good they can still remember which side of the other to walk on...

Usain Bolt Tells The Secret Of How To Run One Hundred Meters in 9.79 Seconds...
Usain Bolt is the world's fastest runner.
On August 23 at the Birds Nest Stadium in Beijing the twenty nine year old Jamaican won the men's 100m final of the World Athletics Championship in a time of 9.79 seconds.
It wasn't as fast as his seriously fast 9.69 second win in 2008 but hey, it's still really quite speedy.
Having a drink with him after the race I asked him the secret to running so fast.
Lowering his voice he leaned forward in an almost conspiratorial manner, looked me in the eye and said Keith, you have to move your feet very very quickly.
Wow! Such a simple concept.
A secret of the universe was now revealed.
All I could do was nod slowly,...
