Usain Bolt is the world's fastest runner.
On August 23 at the Birds Nest Stadium in Beijing the twenty nine year old Jamaican won the men's 100m final of the World Athletics Championship in a time of 9.79 seconds.
It wasn't as fast as his seriously fast 9.69 second win in 2008 but hey, it's still really quite speedy.
Having a drink with him after the race I asked him the secret to running so fast.
Lowering his voice he leaned forward in an almost conspiratorial manner, looked me in the eye and said Keith, you have to move your feet very very quickly.
Wow! Such a simple concept.
A secret of the universe was now revealed.
All I could do was nod slowly,...

Ever Wonder Why Some Pharmaceuticals Are So Very Expensive...
These extravagant interiors with their fully carved wood corridors, gold foil inlays, crystal chandelier and massive marble columns are part of the offices of the state owned Harbin Pharmaceutical Group in China's Heilongjiang Provence.
Said to be built on the pain of millions of suffering patients, it's a distasteful reminder of why the Chinese people can't afford to go to the doctor for prescription medicines.
A bitter pill to swallow...

Nature Reclaims An Abandoned Fishing Village In China...
The Shengsi Archipelago consists
of nearly four hundred islands, only eighteen of which are inhabited.
It's a subtropical region with beautiful beaches, reefs and hills that reach all the way to the sky.
The fisherfolk on the island of Shengshan abandoned their homes to live on the mainland where their fishing catches could be more easily transported and sold at market.
These gorgeous images by photographer Jane Qing show how the islands homes and roads have slowly been reclaimed.
Beautifully, by nature...

Chinese Carpenter Liu Fulong Creates Wonderfully Quirky Wooden Cars That Run On Electric Motors...
Woodworker Liu Fulong has now made two wonderfully quirky wooden electric cars that he drives around the city of Shenyang in northwest China's Lianong Province.
Much to the amusement of people who see him and most want him to make one for them.
Apart from the electric motor, the leather seats, tyres, lights and brakes, the entire body, the mirror frames, the steering wheel is wooden.
Wooden you like one...

While In China You Can Visit India England America Venice Rome France Egypt And Other Places In The World Without Leaving The Country...
It's called Duplitecture.
And China is very good.
Or very bad. At Duplitecture.
It's copycat architecture.
Never mind the fact that many millions of Chinese live in sometimes horrendous conditions, the planners of China are hell bent to take what they see as the best in the world, other country's iconic architecture and replicate it at enormous expense in their own country.
So within the space of a few hours it's possible to visit various areas of China and see a duplicate of the Eiffel Tower, The Statue of Liberty, the Leaning Tower of Piza, Sydney's Opera House, another Taj Mahal, yet another copy of The White House and until they've removed it under pressure from Egypt, Giza's Great Sphinx. For most Chinese who don't and won't ever have the option of leaving their homeland and seeing the real world,
it's as good as the real thing...

Sorry Darling, Can't Talk Now. I'm On A No Cellphone Walking Lane. Will Call You Back...
Sorry darling, couldn't talk, damned inconvenient, was in a no walkie talkie lane and got behind some slow walkers. Talk about sidewalk rage! I couldn't pull out and pass because of talkers walking the other way.
No, nobody looks where they're going, they're all totally addicted to their phones, woops, just bumped into someone. Sorry madam, are you alright, I didn't see you, here let me help you up. Are you still there darling, yes they were having too many accidents and injuries due to distracted walkers talking and texting.
No I won't be home for dinner, I'm in Chongqing, yes in China, yes the one in Asia and they had this innovative idea to make sidewalks safer for the elderly and children...

The Facekini. A Fashion Statement That's Having It's Day In The Sun...
Women, mostly middle aged, in China's eastern city of Qinddao have been wearing these things for years to save their skin from the sun's powerful UV rays.
And now the Facekini is threatening to become a fashionable must-have in the West.
New York's CR Fashion Book have taken the ugly appendage and turned it into a fashion statement for models who want as little sun as possible. On their faces.
Or want to rob a bank perhaps...
