The Little Neighbourhood Of Las Palmitas Has Become Mexico's Biggest Piece of Graffiti Art...

It used to be that the little neighbourhood of Las Palmitas in Pachuca, a hundred or so miles from Mexico City was known only as a poor and violent community.
But now, thanks to the efforts of the local and national government bodies, organised graffiti artists have executed the biggest mural in Mexico and restored some pride back to the folk of the now very colourful community.
We painted two hundred and nine homes said the project director Enrique Gomez. It's been a community effort as each household participated in some way.
Way to go Las Palmitas.

Camper Vans don't get much smaller or more cute than this copper clad over ply custom built 4WD Suzuki camper.
The delightfully quirky little 'bed on wheels' is another from the imaginative mind of Jay Nelson, featured here and seen on Lloyd's Blog recently.
Those who know Lloyd's books published by Shelter Publications on living in small spaces will be familiar with Jay's work and also Foster Huntington whose Suzuki SJ 410 the tiny structure sits on.

This Young Homeless Manila Boy Has Been Doing His School Homework By The Light Of A McDonalds Restaurant...

Young Daniel Cabrera knows hardship very well.
It's been a constant part of his short life so far.
His home was burned down and his father died. The homeless boy is seen most days begging on the streets of Manila with his mother.
But the young, intelligent and happy child
who's become an inspiration to so many after this image was aired on social media,
wants an education.
There are millions of children existing in poverty.
They will not all be seen on social media but hopefully some of them will be able to realise their dreams for a better future.
Despite stronger economic growth in recent years, approximately a quarter of the Philippines population of one hundred million live on less than one dollar a day.
Now, cash, clothes, a school scholarship and even a reading lamp have been offered to the nine year old Daniel who's become a symbol for the many children in similar neighborhoods.
And who dream of getting an education and living better lives...

This Gorgeous Little Beach House Is Created Using Recycled Materials And Flotsam And Jetsam Washed Ashore With The Tide...

Sticks and stones so the old saying goes may break your bones but add all three elements to some carefully selected pieces of recycled materials, old bottles and other bits of flotsam and jetsam the tide has conveniently brought ashore and you have all the material you need to build a very cute tiny home.
And let's not bother going anywhere near bureaucratic building codes.

Why would an eighty five year old want
to cross the Atlantic in a garden shed balanced on a raft made of plastic pipes with a wooden
telegraph pole as a mast.
Because it was on his bucket list. Because he hadn't done it before and because it was there to be done. What a silly question.
Anthony Smith collected three other pensioners, all of whom were dreamers and do'ers and after much preparations took off at around two knots. Two months later and seven hundred miles off course he took stock of the situation and with a new crew completed the voyage with a twenty three day leg a year later. It's hoped the remarkable Anthony Smith
ticked off all the items on his bucket list.
He died aged eighty eight last year.
