Oooh Look Dear, There's A Car Parked Upside Down, Come Along Children...

Oooh look at that dear, someone's parked their car upside down, that could be dangerous,
come along children.
It's alright madam, it's the latest of Alex Chinneck's mind bending art installations. Alex from Hackney has a habit of creating some unusual pieces of art but this one wasn't an easy concept to accomplish.
All it required was more than a modicum of ingenuity from a team of structural engineers, steel benders, scenic artists, carpenters, metal workers, tarmac layers and road markers and there you have it. A new tomato red Corsa suspended four and a half meters off the ground for Vauxhall Motor's new product launch at London's Southbank.
The installation's on display until February 25 and it's called Pick Yourself Up and Pull Yourself Together. Come on children hurry up.
We don't want to miss it...

London Turns Its Iconic Red Telephone Boxes Into Green Mobile Phone Charging Sites...

Solarboxes. They're a great idea.
They're Green and they're free to use!
London School of Economics graduates Harold Craston and Kirsty Kenney came up with the idea in response to the Mayor's 'Low Carbon Entrepreneur' Competition.
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said 'It’s fantastic to see our young entrepreneurs already up and running with this brilliant idea. In our modern world, where hardly any Londoner is complete without a raft of personal electronic gizmos in hand, it’s about time our iconic phone boxes were updated for the 21st Century, to be more useful, more sustainable, and just as striking  with a marvellous new green makeover'.
The kiosk funds itself by advertising and you can find the first one operating in Tottenham Court Road with more opening across London
in the new year.
As you can see, Kirsty and Harold are pretty charged up by the whole thing...

Flamboyant Characters From The Streets Of Marrakesh By Moroccan Artist Photographer Hassan Hajjaj...

Born in Larrache, Morocco in 1961, Hassan Hajjaj left for England while still young and then, heavily influenced by the club, hip hop and reggae scenes of London as well as his own North African heritage began finding ways to present his creativity.
A self taught artist, designer and photographer he became a portraitist making wonderful images of his friends, fellow artists
and musicians.
And they would mostly be modelling the exciting and flamboyant clothes he would create too.
You can see more about Hassan here...

Ninety Eight Year Old Molly Is Like A Kid With A New Toy...

Hi from Molly. I'm in Warlingham. How is the weather where you are?
Typing those few words in her first ever email on her friend Penny's ipad was another life changing event for ninety eight year old Molly.
She's seen many changes in her long life and now she's discovered the internet for herself.
Molly, this post is especially for you. It comes with love from the other side of the world. Thankyou for your delightful email.
The weather here is windy and wet at the moment and the sea is wild and wonderful.
Molly is like a kid with a new toy says Penny. She can't believe how much fun it is and now wants a device of her own.
This lovely lady who takes no medications whatsoever has some thoughts on longevity. Don't eat too much, eat raw food every day and don't bath too much.
Baths wash your vitality away.
A good tip for clean living. Thankyou Molly...

All That Glitters Is Often The Most Ostentatious...

All that glitters is often very ugly.
But beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
If you happen to be wandering in the vicinity of the ultra posh Wellesley Hotel in London's Knightsbridge, and I know a lot of you will be, you'll probably see this ostentatious display of wealth parked outside.
It's the Mystere, one hundred and fifty pounds worth of Range Rover but with a few optional extras from the German bling company Hamann.
I won't go into the details but it's seriously gold.
The Saudi owner had it flown over to use
while in London.
And when the ashtrays are full,
he'll buy another one...

For Sale. Britain's Most Expensive Car Park. Only Three Hundred Thousand Pounds...

Here we go again.
Consumerism getting crazier.
Back in June you saw here the two carparks in Boston that Lisa Blumenthal purchased for an obscene five hundred and sixty thousand dollars.
Now, for the price of two averaged priced houses in Britain you can buy a carpark in the ultra-exclusive Hyde Park Gardens of London for three hundred thousand pounds. And of course you get a ninety one year lease with that.
Should you want to...

Dear Mummy And Daddy...

Dear Mummy and Daddy.
You'll both be so pleased that I've left my last boyfriend, you remember, the merchant banker who was twenty one years older than me.
Well, you'll be thrilled to know that
I met a very nice English boy called Andrew when I was in Germany.
He's really wonderful and I've never been so happy. And he's only one year older than me.
Anyway the other great news is that we're both coming home to London next month and Andy's so looking forward to meeting you.
I'm enclosing a recent photo of us in the square where we met in Hamburg...

London's About To Have The World's Largest Solar Bridge...

A famous nursery rhyme said many years ago that London Bridge was falling down, well today there's still over one hundred of them crossing the River Thames.
One of them, the Blackfriars Station Bridge will soon be the world's largest solar bridge.
When it's completed, it'll provide 900,000kwh of electricity annually, provide more than fifty percent of the power needed to operate the transit hub and each year, dramatically reduce CO2 emissions by around 511 tonnes.
The finished solar roof will consist of over 4,400 panels. Other energy saving measures on the bridge include rain harvesting systems and sun pipes for natural lighting.
For more information, have a look here.
Congratulations London.
May the sun shine brightly on you...
