I met up with Jimmy Randell a few days ago at Reids Farm near Taupo.Jimmy's a lucky man. Having plenty of nothing.
You know how the song goes. I've got plenty of nothing and nothing's plenty for me...
All Jimmy possesses is a horse called Angel, a tiny tent he calls home and now, a little book called How To Live Well On A Small Income that he keeps in his back pocket.
Everything he needs and nothing he doesn't.
Jimmy delights in owning so little, he's aware the less he has the freer he is and here's a man who revels in his freedom.
Apart from looking after his horse, having nothing means he doesn't have to maintain it, clean it, fix it, lend it, insure it, spend his precious time going to work to earn the money to buy it.
Jimmy's a lucky man.
He's got plenty of nothing...
I wonder if he has a saddle?

ReplyDeleteHorses are much cheaper to maintain than women, and far less troublesome to deal with on a daily basis. I decided that my last girlfriend was just that - my last - but I'll always have a horse in my life.
ReplyDeleteMr Snarkey, how many years did it take you to figure that one out? Better late than never. Your revelation works for women too but the latter part, namely the horse has other variables such as cats, dogs, birds etc. Good that we have choices for a happy life.
ReplyDeleteBoth man & beast look thin & under nourished. I would sacrifice a few days of leisure & loafing to feed my dog properly & insure his health. Sometimes freedom from responsibility is just laziness.

ReplyDeleteHe's a fairly private young man who prefers to live on the fringes of society, who loves nature and his simple life. All he needs is enough and fortunately enough is about all he has.
DeleteHe's to be commended for being true to himself and walking to the beat of his own drum. He gets no government hand-outs and asks for none.

ReplyDeleteHe does odd jobs wherever he happens to be and makes enough money for his basic needs.
DeleteHe bought his jeans at an op shop for a dollar. He's not a fashionista and it doesn't matter they're a couple of sizes too big. He jokes that he's a growing boy and one day they might fit him.
The man has his priorities sorted and his way of life suits him. And it's his life.
He's being true to himself.
