There seems to be a never ending supply of vehicles that've been creatively modified to meet the demands of adventure loving, off road freedom camping enthusiasts.
Here's just a few more I've found on my travels through malaria ridden web pages, blogs with potholes so deep that I've needed to be winched out, photo albums that are fraught with traps for the easily intimidated itinerant.
The things I do for you...
Great pics love these types of vehicles. Hope to one day convert my mobile dwelling to off road adventure pod.
ReplyDeleteKeith, thanks for showing us a wide range of very special homes on wheels.
ReplyDeleteI like the second one, they call it “deux chevaux” in French.
How do you call that lovely Citroen 2CV car in English?
I found "Flying Dustbin","Tin Snail", or "Tortoise", in German we call it Ente = duck.
Precisely this 4WD car was taken to Africa several times by his owner as you can imagine in view of the special painting.
Notice the bamboo bumper.
Others would call the 2CV all sorts of things Erika but I've always loved the stylish little vehicle. It has a wonderful personality and obviously is capable of going places...
DeleteTough looking RVs.
ReplyDeleteYour sacrifices are heroic indeed
ReplyDeleteKeep traveling on those internet back roads. I'm enjoying your finds!
ReplyDeleteYour pain has been our gain my friend - another wonderful post..*smiles*
ReplyDeleteI want to see pix of these axel-deep in mud, not on a paved driveway after they've been washed, waxed and polished!

Deletethe 2CV, I gather, light and drafty, was designed for Africa & the Mediterannean - I joined, to sketch, a mineral- and plant-collecting trip to Marocco in one, back in the seventies, and it was great - several times we've just lifted and carried the whole thing, suplies, collections and all still inside, between the three of us (no athletes), over obstacles on the dirt-and-rock backroads of the Riff mountains and never stopped laughing. And no, we were not under any influence meanwhile. Except the beauty of it all.
