My True Love Was There...
The smear on the footpath
The blot on the floor
The stain on the table
The scratch on the door
The smudge on the ceiling
The splotch on the chair
The marks that remind me
My true love was there... Leunig
I believe Leunig has read in the book: "Wabi Sabi Love" of Arielle Ford -'Just imagine the possibilities that would open up in your relationship if you could learn to accept, embrace, and even find the gift in your partner's imperfections.
You mean I ain't the only one accused of being a little messy??
ReplyDeleteLovely poem of true love. When someone really loves their other half, they love them warts and all.

ReplyDeleteI like it! I would like to adapt it and change the words "true love" to "my child". Children, son, daughter.
ReplyDeleteLeunig has a wonderful ability to simplify things so beautifully doesn't he. Do it Michele, a nice idea...
