Jazz And Blues At Haruru Falls...

The Flying Tortoise is staying a few days at the beautiful Haruru Falls (you can just see them in the background) while attending the annual Bay of Islands Jazz and Blues Festival. The Haruru Falls Resort is one of many venues with free shuttle buses delivering folk where they wish to be.
The weather was playing some blues of it's own and last night TFT was surrounded by water as a king tide made it's presence felt. Then the band Rain and Wind conspired to cause a power outage.
But the show went on and Roger and Marilyn came all the way from the Wairarapa in their 1956 Buick Cruiser towing their very cute 1955 Zephyr caravan to join in the fun.

Nesting Instincts...

Bertil Harstrom of Innednines Gruppen designed this wonderful 180sq ft, 18sq m, tree house and covered it with branches, camouflaging itso it looks like a birds nest.
Perched 20ft off the ground,
the two storey structure, round for better wind resistance, can accomodate two adults and two children.

Room With A View...

When The Flying Tortoise is in Whangarei, this is usually the view from the bedroom window.
Not bad is it.
It's like having a mid city apartment in this user friendly and delightful place which is also a haven for visiting yachties.
Many housebuses are in town as they make their way north to the Annual Jazz Fesitval at Paihia and Russell in the beautiful Bay Of Islands.
That's where TFT's heading...
